Yes, I don't have the original remote for the TV so the only buttons I've tried have been on the front of the TV and on a universal remote.  But the TV is still stuck on Channel 43.

Have you tried the buttons on the front of the TV? If the receiver for the remote, in the set, got zapped, the remote won't work, but the on set buttons will.
