Hi, yes before you open up the valve assembly you need to turn the water
off. Every house seems to be different as to how and where to shut the water
off, some installations have shut off in the line coming into the house,
most have a shut off near the meter (unless you have a well). My shut off is
out in the front yard near the street in the water meter box. So I turn off
the water heaters, then turn off the water, then open any faucet that is
lower than the one you want to work on, both hot and cold, then go take
apart the tub faucet.

Subject: [DIY] how do I stop my bathtub from dripping water
I have developed a leak in my upstairs bathtub/shower is it is single handle
shower I believe by moen. I was looking at youtube videos on how to do it
but I am a little lost. I have unscrewed it even took out the U clip. When
I used my pliers to pull the valve the water comes back on. Is there a
special tool I need and do I need to turn off the water to the house and
also if I need to turn off the water to the house where would I do that at?
Thanks If there is anything else you can advice me on I would appreciate it.
The leak is making me insane and my water bill has gone up.
