Good morning. We are re-staining an extremely porous old wood-sided
outbuilding. It wasn't easy, but found some oil-based stain by Cabot
at our local Ace Hardware store.
We would like to thin out the first coat to get it into the wood and
then use the thicker original stain as the follow up application.
We want to keep the natural pale gray color of this aged wood and
ordered white pigmented stain.
What can we thin the oil stain with that will not darken the color?
