[DIY] Panasonic Home Theater Sound System

 

Model SC-HT820V, 8yrs old.  Model no longer sold so no support offered, Panasonic chat line says service the entire unit :)

 

5 Progressive DVD/CD Player.  Worked fine one day, the next day 4 of the 5 slots will not play CDs.  It's reads - then gives a message:  This type of disc will not play on this player.  Troubleshooting tips doesn't address this problem.  Cleaned player and CD's - nothing.  Went over all instructions, checked on-line with no success.  DVDs play fine and everything else works fine.  Only 1 slot will play cds.  I'm not sure what to try next, anyone have any thoughts?

 

Installer said since it's so old the surround sound wouldn't connect to our new HD TV but it worked fine and was too good to replace so we just manually switch from TV to component av when we play CD/DVD/VCRs.  I still don't want to discard it but am afraid a repair shop will charge more than it's worth.
