I'm not familiar with the brand names but we had the vinyl installed on our last home and were very happy with it. It was the wider type and had a wood grain texture. A cream color - almost pale yellow - with white trim, looked very nice. On the west coat I never saw it but in the midwest it is very common - less than brick and easier to repair. The one thing we did learn was to get a power washer to clean it good, keeps it looking new - and as someone said, if you do get a problem fix it immediately. We had a very small hole on the second story where a rock hit the wall during a storm and wasps got into it.
When we came here the first time to look for property, we'd go with the realtor to look at beautiful homes, then walk into an old farmhouse. I finally learned it was a common practice to just wrap the house with siding to give it a new look :)
