I haven't actually compared the two but I would be amazed if any cordless unit produced as many strokes per min as a corded unit. The way I've have been using mine, I'd probably be throwing a cordless across the lot in short order. I just finished tying two roofs of unequal pitch together and found that while working in a precarious position the Sonic saw was just about as fast as my cordless and a whole lot safer, plus it will literally shave joints to fit. I'd never even consider taking a regular skill saw where I've been working, far to dangerous. The blades are just long enough to cut through a 2x4 and being able to make controlled plunge cuts is a real plus.
