You need to note the amount of sun daily, peak heat times of year and for how lone in hot months, and exposure to sun and wind, ...shade? what trees surround this area?
Just a suggestion- buy three of the small plants that you like and plant them in different places on your property for a year... judge which situation affords perfect health and growth and that will show you whether or not that is a workable situation.

We need to choose some plants for sloping areas in our BIG yard. Top priority is low-maintenance, drought tolerant plants, but would also like a few things that are not what EVERYBODY else has in THEIR yards! Can we expect to just go to the "big-box" stores & find an adequate selection, or would it be best to order online??
