I think that is what we call potato fork for digging potatoes.  You probably need to buy a better quality tool, I suspect the handles are soft and the spike works loose.  You might try re-seating the fork using JB Weld but under heavy use it will probably work loose again.

I bought an Ames spading fork from Home Depot and have been using it to loosen the soil around my house. A spading in fork is like a heavy duty short handle pitch fork. The fork head keeps getting loose and wobbles as I use it. This is the second Ames fork I've purchased. Is there a solution for this problem?
