Re: [DIY] Roof leaks

We did our flat garage roof this year with roll asphalt and PLENTY of
adhesive tar and 8 inch overlap on the sheets plus sealing all edges with
flashing and PLENTY of tar..do carefully and diligently and it should take
pools of water without leaking if it does not drain properly..

Added benefit --we put down foam board insulation at $32 a sheet over the
old roof and covered that with the roll asphalt...roll asphalt is $42 a roll
and we used about 6 rolls and 7 gals of adhesive tar.

No leaks...

Subject: [DIY] Roof leaks

We have a flat roof on our garage.  Every year or two, we get a leak (in different places usually).  It is really a pain to fix since I have to poke a hole in the drywall ceiling and drain it.  Sometimes, I have to replace the drywall and always have to paint the wall and or ceiling again.  I also have tar up the roofand sometimes use tar paper.  Does anyone have any ideas so this will not happen or not happen as much?  In one part of the roof that had a low spot, I put a drain and it elbowed through the ceiling and out the wall into one of the gutters.

Thanks
GB
