A 3 way bulb is readily identifiable by the base.  It has a concentric metal ring that is not present on a standard bulb.  Here is a picture (from wikipedia).

Thanks all.

I havent had a chance to test it. I bought 2 lamps, and on the Home Depot website, it claims it is a 3-way, but the box says nothing about 3-way. So I was curious, if it is not a 3-way, what the wattage would be.

I like the lamps, so maybe Ill return the 3-way bulbs and just get an LED 150, if it turns out that the lamp is not a 3-way.

I have to test it today or tomorrow..

If the LED bulb is built to follow the convention established for incandescent 3 way bulbs, the 100 watt brightness will light in a standard lamp socket.

Hello Experts,

If I have a 3 way LED lightbulb (50-100-150W), but it is used in a lamp that does not have a 3 way switch, at what wattage would it light at? 150w?

Thanks so much.

Frank
