Thanks. It is a nice house. Before I bought it, though, I brought in a
contractor, with whom I've worked before, and had him go over it to make
sure that it was structurally sound, and actually worth putting the time and
money into fixing it up. It *is* a lot of work correcting decades of
neglect and/or hap-hazard workmanship. Originally, I was estimating this as
a two-year project, but now...probably more like five years. I could hire
the contractor, and he could knock it out in a year or two, but then what
would I have learned from it? For me, this whole thing is a learning
process. It's fun, and I can think of lots worse things to do with my time
and money. And I can work at my own pace, which is...admittedly, slow. It
helps that no one is living in it, or itching to move in, while the work's
being done. Still lots and lots of work to do, a long way to go, before
it's done.
