The easiest thing to do is replace the set screws with allen set screws of the same size. Most hardware stores carry a selection of them.
To get small screws started, I usually get it up to the hole with 2 fingers and use the tip of my index finger to manipulate it into the hole. Never releasing pressure on it, twisting it clockwise and counter clockwise to find the starting thread. Once the first thread is found its a good as in. But that takes a lot of patience and a good feel for it.
The easiest way is to replace with allens. Allen set screws will mount right on the allen wrench and be easy to start.
