Slumlords who see a lot of damage do this.
Moisture migrates via diffusion through walls.
If you opt for this, use a vapor barrier paint.
You might use "cement board," which is a common strong
replacement for old "greenboard' in bathrooms.
It will cost maybe 20% more, overall.
It's a lil heavy so sheets are 3x5, not 4x8.
