Does it smoke under no load? If so, it probably is either a jam or the motor is going bad. I would unplug it first off then look from the underside, the discharge chute, and from the top (after removing the plate) to see if you can see anything more. If you can’t you might want to look in a parts manual to see how the guard is removed.

Subject: [DIY] table saw smoking
I was using my table saw the other day. It started smoking, even though the blade was still turning. I have looked for jams, extraneous stuff stuck somw where and can;t find any. It is a direct drive Craftsman.
Any idea to help diagnose the situation?
