Most definitely. I won't say the expensive plumbing fixtures are not good, but corners are cut in production to make a cheaper product. I've had many a brass finish fixture succumb to corrosion from the air. Some are better than others. It'll probably be the most expensive item you'll spend money on for the redo. CHrome lasts longer, I don't know about the newer pewter and satin finishes.
I just did a bathroom remodel and chose a glass sink and glass (disk) fixture. I wont have a problem with corrosion but I chase water stains, and need to keep the sink clean and dry if you want it to look nice.
Like all fixtures, keeping them clean of residue is important to keep them looking good.
Best Regards

Subject: [DIY] bathroom remodel questions
We're starting to "gather" the stuff for our bathroom remodel job that we will be doing this summer and I have a few questions I hope that this group can answer.
Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in quality between the faucets that you buy from the big box stores and one that you get from a plumbing fixture store? We are looking at putting in a Delta with Venetian Bronze Finish.
Anyone have the Venetian Bronze Finish? Does it hold up? Does it scratch easy and the finish come off?
Thanks, I am sure I will have many more questions for this group.
