Re: [DIY] RE: Ants

Will Diatomaceous Earth work on ants?

It totally gets rid of flies and is not toxic to animals.

Has anyone tried anything different than boric acid?

Powdered laundry detergent. I found out by accident. I used to buy laundry
detergent by the bucket (big family). One time I left the lid to the bucket
off, and an invasion of ants crawled in. They didn't get far before
shrivelling up and dying. The house was being invaded badly that year, so I
tried sprinkling the laundry detergent along trails and outside on whatever
looked like a nest. Worked like a charm.

The only thing I ever found that worked better was powdered Chlordane, which
is now banned. Liquid Chlordane (also banned now) worked okay, but not as
well as the powdered.
