I have tried the vinegar and salt several times. It has never worked for me. I got a generic brand of weed and grass killer at the local co-op called Erase that works good. It cost about $20.00 you mix a few ounces to a gallon of water, depending on what kind of weeds and how fast you want it to work. It takes a few days for it to start working. The stronger you mix it the faster it works. I haven't put it on anything that it didn't kill. A few things I had to spray twice to get it completely dead.
