Saw this recently on a DIY instruction type web site. There is a big hoopla about the salt being bad for the soil.
Basically, don't use the salt any place you want to grow anything. Some weeds are sensitive the low Ph of the vinegar
but not all weeds are, and it needs to be the higher % acidity, not plain table vinegar. You can try boiling water, if it
won't damage anything else in the area.

I read something about mixing 1 gal of vinegar with 1 cup of salt and spray. The salt drys the weed and vinegar makes the ground ph balance off, it is safe for pets and kids.
