I bought a five hp gas unit several years ago and the only real advantage has been convenience. I can pull it out for those small jobs and yet have it available for the larger tasks. We have a deluge of small spiders that leave their webs all over the sides of houses and it is nice being able to wash down when I feel like it, as well as flushing sidewalks and decks. There is just something innate to my personality that hates to rent or borrow, and so I have wound up owning any number of tools that will probably never pay for themselves.

The truth is that I was trying to justify buying a power washer for all kinds of jobs around the house. I've concluded that renting a washer for the jobs where it makes sense is much more reasonable for me.
