May take me awhile but I'm going to try it today :) Talked with people Sunday with the GE Cafe - propane - not downdraft though. They said it heats very hot and they chose it as it was supposed to hold the heat with the propane conversion. The Kenmore Elite I got is basically the same cooktop except the top design on the GE Cafe downdraft. I preferred the Elite to the GE. Not talked to Kenmore techs yet. Interesting test below, LOL.

Fresh cold water with each test, cold temp measured accurately each test.
