[DIY] New Washer/Dryer: Steam any better?

 

Shopping for new washer/dryer. Read countless reviews but was wondering if any of you can give me advice on whether the extra money for Steam is really worth it. Only 3 people in household. Don't do any excessive size loads although I would like to wash my bedspread if possible. Why are some companies going back to top load if front loads are supposed to be so great? Thanks
