Re: [DIY] Re:New Gas Dryer Probelm

And there you have it.  Yes, ours was over the limit then, especially with a couple of bends.  There wasn't enough power to get it to the outside vent.  Need to put that in my "good to know" info.  I think the repairman mentioned the LG brand was one that had a boost in it for longer runs.  Was this one of your house rehab tidbits you learned or did you already know this?

My only point is that the length of the vent pipe supposedly is important, I
didn't think ours was that long, but I don't remember him saying how long
was too long.

Quoting from _Black & Decker Codes for Homeowners_, Clothes Dryer Exhaust
Requirements, page 36:

"Duct Length
"1. Do not exceed 35 feet developed length between the beginning of the
clothes dryer duct and the duct termination, unless the clothes dryer
manufacturer's installation instructions allow a longer length. Developed
length means the straight line length of the duct, reduced by bends in the
duct. The clothes dryer manufacturer is rarely known during construction,
so the manufacturers installation instruction exception rarely applies.
