xxx hours meeting EPA rating. For a $200 saw this may be
150 hours. It will run, but be less clean than "ideal." this
can be an issue for some contractors. But it means, it's
wearing out at a given rate.
A $300 saw may say 600 hours, like my recent Echo brand.
Then, it suggests maintenance...! Clearly it's wearing out,
much slower. That indicates better materials & quality.
I got a $150 McCuulloch once for $100 which, demanding
records from OSH returns dept, was plainly used once
by an unscrupulous customer, to cut down 1 Xmas tree
Dec 14th & returned as unsatisfactory on Dec 20th.
I got my $300 Echo for $200 as a return from H.D. It
may have been used briefly. Was missing a safety part
which companies, I find, replace very freely. Yes, I WILL
buy from THEM, again!
TroyBilt is good that way. In autumn, I buy stuff for the
garden at half price, that will be obsolete models next
year, or are missing a gas cap that's never carried.
They send it the parts right out! New warranty in force.
