Try turning off the "wrinkle Guard" feature. There is a separate timer which cycles through the wrinkle guard cycles. Each wrinkle guard cycle advances the main timer until it reaches the off position. You can also try using the dryer on the timed cycle to see how that acts.

My washer/dryer pair is 20 years old but still looks good and works fine - I want to keep them going as long as possible. I always use the auto dry cycle and the dryer stops when the clothes reach a specific dryness. Also, the dryer will always stop when the door is opened and to restart it you have to shut the door and push the button again. Today, the dryer shut off, I opened the door to remove the clothes but heard a ticking sound and could feel a slight vibration in the dryer control panel. When I manually turned the dryer to the OFF position it stopped. Same thing with the next load. The auto dry cycle dries the clothes but the dryer doesn't completely shut off.
Any thoughts? Had to have the condenser on the furnace replaced last week and I hate to have the repairman out again right now. I wouldn't try and repair it myself but would like to know what we're dealing with. Would it be a timer problem? Maybe something to do with the auto shut off?
