Re: [DIY]RE: Dale

Dale, your writing style is amazing.  Have you ever written professionally?

I bet you could analyze and summarize a turtle marathon and make it seem interesting.

I must admit to keeping a stool and several chairs handy in my work shop.  I did however seek the advise of a local state certified octogenarian but he did not instill a great deal of confidence as he nodded off in the middle of our last consultation and nearly fell out of his electric scooter.  I understand his funeral is scheduled for 10:30 AM this coming Wednesday.

As for walking and getting up and down.  Down is no problem but the getting up with severally worn and time damaged running gear is presenting its own set of circumstances.  They claim they can replace King pins and Ball joints but the cost in discomfort for the extensive body work that follows is discouraging, not to mention  time without my normal means of locomotion while I am in overhaul.

Then comes the subject of walking.  Totally out of the question.  I have always figured that if man was intended to walk, God would not have invented the wheel and the bicycle.  I have consequently avoided this questionable pleasure for most of my adult life.  Now my walk more approximates a controlled hobble, limp and shuffle.    One of my great attachments to life on submarines was the lack of encouragement to indulge in such behavior.

The tugging of the grave is a totally different subject.  I view that anticipated experience as "The Great Answer Seminar," and do I ever have a bag of questions.  It is also rapidly becoming the only way I will be able to attend a class, ship's or family reunion.
