[DIY] 30" gap between wall n shower wall

Hoping someone can give me ideas on what can best be done to this space when its the gap between wall and end cap of shower wall.

My original house has this and we didnt move the tub when we remodeled. However this gap was treated as a cabinet by previous owner and we replaced the doors on it. Very poorly mind you. More importantly, the 30" depth is too deep and therefore wasted space and impractical for neat organization. So now i plan to remodel and move the tub yet ironically, to this novice, there will be another 30" gap, duh, but it will be 1/2 the current width. Again i dont like the hard to reach depth. What does one do. It is a small room but still someone must have come up with wiser use.???
