Hi, I have been trying to remove a spot on a light-colored carpet that was due to spider droppings. I've tried several things in this order: 1) Capture rug cleaning kit, 2) steam cleaner, 3) vinegar diluted 50/50 with water and applied with a soft cloth, 4) club soda.
The result is that I've ended up discoloring the carpet in a larger area than the stain was originally.
The carpet is off white and the discolored area is just a darker version of the original color. Any ideas? The carpet is in pretty good condition except for that one spot which, unfortunately, is very visible. The carpet is about 18 years old so I won't cry if I have to replace it, but I'd like to try whatever you all can suggest. I do not remember whether it is a natural fiber or synthetic.
Thank you for whatever help you can send my way.
