Re: [DIY] Will Power washer work for cleaning windows

Must be a universal condition.  I just completed doubling the size of my shop to 20x40 and I'm already cramped.  Had some steel siding left over and a neighbor gave me several full sheets of his left overs as well.  The plan now is to set up a miniature 9x12 implement shed just tall enough for lawn mowers, small trailer, roto-tiller, garden tractor, you get the picture.  Then perhaps I will have room to squeeze in one of the cars when the snow flies, but that too is a maybe.  It sure is nice though getting the table saw out of the main shop area and having the thickness plainer set up all the time with its extension tables which can be quickly lifted off and folded available at a moments notice.  Once I'm able to finish the soffit and fascia I will return the 10 foot break to its rightful owner and then it will feel like space has really expanded.

Actually, the storage space is more of a "cost" to me than the actual cost.  My large table saw takes up lots of space and earns its keep. On the other hand, the lawn mower is a necessary evil that takes up way too much space.  I am afraid a pressure washer would be closer to the lawn mower for me.  We downsized our house last year and I lost my 3 car garage <sigh>.

I bought a five hp gas unit several years ago and the only real advantage has been convenience.  I can pull it out for those small jobs and yet have it available for the larger tasks.  We have a deluge of small spiders that leave their webs all over the sides of houses and it is nice being able to wash down when I feel like it, as well as flushing sidewalks and decks.  There is just something innate to my personality that hates to rent or borrow, and so I have wound up owning any number of tools that will probably never pay for themselves.

The truth is that I was trying to justify buying a power washer for all kinds of jobs around the house.  I've concluded that renting a washer for the jobs where it makes sense is much more reasonable for me.
