Knowing not everyone is in the same time zone, I tried to get some pictures tonight and was able to make out a brand name when I enlarged the image. It's an Omnia R13846 - the Letters UL are in a circle, followed by an F.
I found it online, ours is an older more ornate lock, but this is the mechanism.

I'm going to follow thru online but if anyone has any suggestions, they're very welcome. I suspect something might be broken inside as the "outside" lever on the side with the key lock, just spins.
