Re: [DIY] Re: OK, now the photos

The man is coming over tonight; yes i agree it's now in the realm of the ridiculous, but sad to say when very headstrong people push their way I am learning to watch them and I'm learning not to get too excited meaning go overboard in my frustration. So ... what's happening is that the person is coming over to talk tonight because that is what my husband wants. He thinks he will repair the job with drywalling. I am very, VERY leery but my husband wants to let him go ahead and do the drywalling. I do not. I cannot right now convince my husband that the man should simply be let go perhaps with $100 instead of $200. I intend to make it very clear during this discussion tonight (in as sweet and nice a way as a dominant personality like mine can muster up) that more defects have been noticed in his paint job. Even if I said the "rest of the room" was alright, the sunlight shows that I made a mistake. Yes! I made a mistake. :-) And that it is costing me extra paint and supplies. That if he is looking to paint to my total satisfaction it will require more than the drywalling at his expense. That it has been pointed out to me that there are other defects such as the fact that he cut in on the top of the walls with a brush and the smooth, rather than textured brushmarks at the top show throughout. That there are drip marks. And that there are still splotches on the wall where he so called patched up the wall. By the time I sweetly finish with him, he will either be a blithering mass of nerves, or he will agree to work to my satisfaction and he will have to come back, at his own expense and materials, more than once more. Guess which will happen? (Because I really do not want him to work at all on my walls.) And I also forgot to mention that I want a blow-by-blow description of how he did the walls, how much compound he used and didn't he know that you can't sand flexible caulking adhesive? Also ... it has been pointed out to me by a painting guy at HD that if compound like that is applied to drywall it is not the same consistency or strength of the wall and therefore I cannot hang things through the compound as I would through drywall. I intend to ask him why he used this and how much did he use. I hate to be the "bad guy," but I"m afraid that's what will happen. He has already called me "fussy," lol! Thanks, guys (and gals) for all the support, encouragement and information you've given me through this. :-) Yes, may God bless you.

You cannot sand caulking, just pull grab the caulk and pull to remove it. When you put up baseboard or trim, there is usually a very small gap, this is where you use paintable caulk, it is a fine line and by paintable they mean that the paint will not roll off the caulk, it will stick to it and it will dry, but it will not exactly match the wall.

I've received different opinions about painting over adhesive caulk, but the package did say it is "paintable," that is why I wonder what that means since the lady from the paint dept. told me it's not possible to paint over caulking. She did say, however, that it cannot be sanded down. I would like to know if this is true.

Painting over acrylic caulking adhesive is possible but mainly it it used to seal cracks or joints like on a kitchen countertop where the trim meets the wall. You want both the same color. Spackle or other products are suitable for repairing walls. I did not see the pictures but usually you fix the cracks or blemishes, then adjust the texturing to match the walls and finally paint.

I felt it was God's blessing on me, I was so appreciative. She spoke to him very kindly and explained things. I think he is beginning to understand.

Doesn't look much better, you can still see difference, I don't think I can leave it this way right now. I took this picture with a flashlight, applying your suggestions. Please look and give me your opinions if you have the time at "Clean_boost" album in the photo section, thanks.
