Re: [DIY] Re: OK, now the photos

By the way, I believe he used a good deal of caulking based on the blotches I see, by that I mean like 10" across somehow helieve it or not. (I'll ask him just where and how much caulking he applied, and I will ask him to show me exactly where on the wall, from one end of the patch to the other.) So I don't think it can be pulled at all. But I'll see. Thanks for explaining how it is "paintable," that makes sense. I asked the company about sanding, they answered and said it is not made for sanding. But they did not yet answer me about painting over it, but what you say makes sense, a lot of sense. Now I need to find information about drywalling and how it should be correctly applied. There may be different methods, but because of the weakness of the walls anyway, I would say you have to be REAL CAREFUL when it comes to wires BEHIND the wall as well as the studs. Yup, I'll ask.

You cannot sand caulking, just pull grab the caulk and pull to remove it. When you put up baseboard or trim, there is usually a very small gap, this is where you use paintable caulk, it is a fine line and by paintable they mean that the paint will not roll off the caulk, it will stick to it and it will dry, but it will not exactly match the wall.

I've received different opinions about painting over adhesive caulk, but the package did say it is "paintable," that is why I wonder what that means since the lady from the paint dept. told me it's not possible to paint over caulking. She did say, however, that it cannot be sanded down. I would like to know if this is true.

Painting over acrylic caulking adhesive is possible but mainly it it used to seal cracks or joints like on a kitchen countertop where the trim meets the wall. You want both the same color. Spackle or other products are suitable for repairing walls. I did not see the pictures but usually you fix the cracks or blemishes, then adjust the texturing to match the walls and finally paint.

I felt it was God's blessing on me, I was so appreciative. She spoke to him very kindly and explained things. I think he is beginning to understand.

Doesn't look much better, you can still see difference, I don't think I can leave it this way right now. I took this picture with a flashlight, applying your suggestions. Please look and give me your opinions if you have the time at "Clean_boost" album in the photo section, thanks.
