yep; you have to 'walk' the wire out from the outside of the roll. if you have a short run, simply pull 10 or so rounds off and walk it out from the remainder which is left laying on the floor. you can fashhion a roller out of a piece of plywood and some rope: cut 2 pieces of plywood slightly larger than the diameter of the coil of wire and drill a hole in the middle to pass the rope thru. attach the rope to the bottom side of one piece of the plywood, pass the rope thru the coil and the other plywood and hang it from a rafter near the panel. you can pull a long section of wire off, over the rafters and to your first box or outlet. have fun! it is a good idea to mark the destination of the wire on the panel end as you rough it in with a magic marker.

Subject: [DIY] Pulling wire out of roll
I have been getting 250-foot rolls of 12/2 to run in buildings and I seem to have a small problem. I want to keep the wire flat (that is, not twisting around) but when i pull the wire out of the coil, it becomes twisted. I usually pull it out of the center so I can keep the roll together in a coil, but I think that is what is causing the problem. If I take it from the outside of the roll, I have to unwrap it and it'll get really tangled.
Has anyone solved this problem?
