RE: [DIY] Re: Starter: Hope not a dead subject

And whatever else you do NEVER have two winning bids.  That will just tempt others into bidding up the price without the possibility of winning the item.

They shouldn't have any problem with you, so long as you pay them, they'll love you. I had to make my first buy at one point and had no problem.
Avoid premature bids. An initial bid is fine but if someone else is interested you could find yourself in a loosing situation of a bidding war. Thus driving the price up.
Watch the time remaining on the bidding. When it gets down to the last few minutes, wait until the last minute and place a bid that is as high as you would want to pay. If at that point its already higher than you want to pay then its not the right deal. Many people loose a bid because of last second bidding. They think they have it and at the last second someone else gets it. There may be a reserve price too. If that's the case then if it doesn't get to that price, the sale doesn't go through. There is usually no telling if there is a reserve or what that may be. If someone else does bid, let them think they have it. Bid very late and you'll get the best deal for you. There are programs for last second bidding too. You can sleep and let the program bid for you. If someone else is using a program you wouldn't stand a chance of winning that bid.
No problem with the digging. I had the fun of looking and didn't have to pay anything. They do seem to be available but only every now and then. I think if you can find a motor that you're not sure about the gear, the motor and gear assembly should come apart and interchange. You could buy a starter for the motor and use your existing gear assembly. They shouldn't be impossible to disassemble and reassemble.
Good luck and best wishes,
Steve

It looks right to me, right no. of teeth, right mounting. Now if the seller will accept me. I have an account all set up with e-bay and Paypal but I don't have a buying history. I guess that is what they object to. I may place a minimum bid now just to see if its accepted. Thanks for the digging.
