This is really interesting too. Sears parts has the part number for the 12V starter, its $161. Doesn't show a picture though. You may try going to a Sears Repair facility and show them this:

Take your starter for comparison. (The part number for the whole 12VDC starter is 390551)

There is another motor without the bell housing and gear on ebay. Its labeled the same part number.

Its a different seller. You should be able to swap your bell housing and the gear from your starter. Not as cheap though. Its the only other motor that is of that type, right now.

Wouldn't argue with a 12v, its parked right longside the car and jumper cables would do it. However I was unable to make contact with seller to ask about mounting hole spacing and no. of teeth in the gear that meshes with engine flywheel. E-bay doesnt like me I guess.
