Re: [DIY] replacing glass in a window

Depends entirely on the type of window.  In the older wooden sashes it was done all the time, however some of the newer sashes are actually welded together around the glass, and you may need to order a new sash from the manufacturer if of course you know who that might be and if they are still in business.

Is there any way to replace the glass pane in a window WITHOUT removing the
sash?

I have to replace the glass in a window. However, the window sashes (it's a
double hung) are painted *and* nailed shut. No, I didn't do it; the house
came that way. The paint is thick enough on the window that trying to
remove the sash will do more damage than good - meaning having to replace
the whole window.

Ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance.
