Re: [DIY] need tips on removing spray popcorn fr ceiling and finding inexpensive paint

Another tip, for buying anything, is to find the major distributor, and/or the factory that actually makes whatever you need, and buying it direct.. if you live in/near a major city, you can find, at least, a major distributor, and, if you luck out, the factory itself!

The trick is to dampen it enough so it can be scraped off but not wet enough to soften the sheetrock underneath. Even with a ladder you have to work with your arms up and your head tilted back.

We donate a lot to them and buy a lot from them…sometimes we even donate back things we bought there :) We were in twice last week and their prices were so high I spoke to a couple of the head guys, including the one who does all the pricing. He said he is researching things on the internet now and sets his prices that way. Last year we donated our entire living room set and several pieces of exercise equipment and they sold the living room set before they even got it unloaded. When I donate items I want to benefit the charity but this isn't ebay, I still want someone who needs it to be able to buy it. I'm sure a lot of people bought and resold things, but that shouldn't be a reason to price things out of reach of others.
