I think with it being so shallow, I'm going to redo the water daily so I don't think I will have to worry about toxicity.
I will take that into consideration though and let it go a few days with water before setting it out for my wild birds to use.
I also need to come up with an appropriate stand for it as I want it off the ground.
I like unusual things in my garden.

Get the part you wish to seal wet and soaked with water, then work clear acrylic paintable caulk into the wet concrete and let set over night. The caulk is water soluble until it sets and will be sucked into the wet concrete as it drys. You can work it into the concrete with a wet brush, rubber spatula or a pair of rubber gloves. Once sealed and set the caulk is good for about 20 years.
