Correct. Not once did he use the word "inventing". If you create an omelette, it doesn't mean that you invented the egg. He's talking about legislation. And it's true. Likely without him pushing to commercialize the internet, we wouldn't be here discussing politics on a DIY forum.
...but people hear what they want to hear. The same people who like to think that Gore was saying that he literally "invented" the internet are likely the same people who believe that Obama wasn't born in the U.S. It's amazing that a certain portion of people invest so highly in a forwarded email message and in turn talk about a "liberal media".On Sat, Apr 20, 2013 at 6:42 AM, Lee Griffith <ldgriff@earthlink.net> wrote:
Begging your pardon, but here is Al claiming to have created the internet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnFJ8cHAlco
Since this is a DIY Group, I thought this was on topic. :)-LeeOn Apr 20, 2013, at 1:11 AM, subprong <subprong@gmail.com> wrote:Al Gore never claimed to "invent" the internet. I believe his claim was to help create the internet commercially via legislation....but hey someone stated that he "invented it" in some sort of mass Forward email, so it must be true. BTW, there is a friend in Nigeria who needs us to send them some money.

Al Gore is NOT a scientist, although he tries to pass himself off as one. The real scientists have said he is wrong. Who ya gonna believe? Gore, who claims to have invented the internet, or 30,000 climate scientists, who said global warming hit its peak in 2000, and has since become global cooling?
