Correct. Not once did he use the word "inventing". If you create an omelette, it doesn't mean that you invented the egg. He's talking about legislation. And it's true. Likely without him pushing to commercialize the internet, we wouldn't be here discussing politics on a DIY forum.

...but people hear what they want to hear. The same people who like to think that Gore was saying that he literally "invented" the internet are likely the same people who believe that Obama wasn't born in the U.S. It's amazing that a certain portion of people invest so highly in a forwarded email message and in turn talk about a "liberal media".
