The reason the intake and output are only 8 degrees different is because items not working properly. A competent AC tech should be able to figure out why pretty quickly. If it's fully and properly charged, there's a compressor, an A coil, and the B coil. Both coils have a fan that exchanges heat. If both fans are running and the compressor is running, that narrows down the available choices. Is the outside coil clean and free from obstructions that would limit airflow?  Is the a cool clean? I think you mentioned it being in the attic and hard to get to--regardless, it needs to be checked. Are the lines insulated?

I think the leak is fixed. It maintained pressure.

 

Can't find a reason why the return air temp and room vent temp is only 8 degrees less. Thus the house heats up during the day. When inside temp was 80 the air coming out of vents was only 72.

If I understand correctly, it should be 15 to 20 degrees difference.
