You can make freeform pavers by pouring concrete into a wet sand base. You won't get a sharp edge but can make some attractive shapes. I always add some faint animal prints as if they had crossed during the night. For geometric shapes, put together some wood forms in different shapes and use the wet sand inside. An easy short cut is to buy a few plastic molds in various shapes and use wet sand or clay to change the shape of some.
