excellent point.  Conversely, decks are usually screwed in because they hold better and won't pop up like nail heads will. But with pressure treated lumber on most decks, you just have to be sure and use the treated screws.
 
I had a friend that cut her bare foot pretty badly on an exposed nail head on her deck.  Her husband and I spent an entire weekend replacing all the nails with deck screws.  No problems since.
