I chipped away on one of my toilets, but you really have to be careful, because it can cause blemishes to the finish when chipping away. But I did notice that the stuff came off in chunks.

Hi Joyce;
That will work. It is important that you let it soak
for quite a while. You might even plunge the toilet
first, to remove excess water. Since it has been
building up for a long time, let it set for a few hours.
Then, do it again, with fresh CLR. It will dissolve
it. You might also chip it away, because the CLR
will soften it.

I also have a powder that seems to work.
