Re: [DIY] Toilet stain

Our tub is well over 80 years old and I had become convinced that the stain in the center of the bottom was in fact where the porcelain had been worn away over time and we were seeing the cast iron core of the tub.  During one of those moments when it is decided that what ever I try can not make matters any worse I began using a razor blade scraper to see if any of it might come off, and low and behold it was not worn through at all but the accumulation of years of lime and iron deposits.  I used lime-away to help soften the deposits and in a couple of hours we had a nearly new looking tub.  My next project now is to get some rouge and aluminum oxide and polish the tub back to its near new condition.  The tub cannot be easily replaced as it is over sized since the man who originally built the house was quite tall.

The best product we have found for toilet stains are Whink Rust stain
remover and especially Whink Rust Guard placed in the toilet tank.
These products are excellent. http://www.whink.com/  Recomended via
their use in our home only.
