More like the drain hose is clogged. Not uncommon during the summer. Condensation is collected and drained out through a hose. Crud builds up around the hose and the water overflows onto the floor. Not a big deal.

If that's all that it is, it'll be a cheap repair. Have the ac guy show you how to do it. I clean ours out every spring ever since it happened to me....twice. Ten minute job.

My furnace and a/c are probably over 20 years old. House is a three bedroom ranch, not huge. Today I noticed the basement carpet was wet. The rug has been pulled up and the padding thrown out. I have fans blowing over the rolled up two year old carpet. I will have it relaid with new padding later. We've lived here for 40+ years and have never had a water problem till now with my rather new carpet. I suppose I should have the carpet cleaned when it's back in place.
