RE: [DIY] Buildup post beam

 

Not sure if it's really the same, but I like your idea. 
 
If you have a table saw, I would glue and screw slightly long pieces together, then trim for size.  If not, trim each one to size then try to glue and screw with them flush on one side.  Make sure you clamp them or weigh them down to keep them from separating.  Then use a hurricane tie to help keep them together at the connection on top.
 
Of course if you're holding up a 2x4, you can extend one of them to screw into the 2x4.

My post deck is rotten
It is 6 by 6 post
I try to find pressure post 6 by 6 but most have split or knot
I try cutting 6 by 6 post it very difficult so
I am thinking of getting three 2 by 6 to make a post
A 2 by 6 lumber is easy to cut with circular saw
Any thought on how to do it
