The green in the leakage is colorant to let the repair tech locate the leak. Once the gas leaked out, and air leaked in, the heavier air stalled the compressor, and burned out the compressor. That's the smell of burning wire.

how did the smoke smell-like burning wires or something else? a hole in the coil should not start a fire, just a refrigerant leak. the green deposit could indicate a leak, as copper decomposes with a green patina
