Do you have a lawn sprinkler system?  If so (or you plan to use a large sprinkler), 3/4" would not be enough.  I would go 1" if w/o sprinklers due to length.  If you are using PVC or Pex, it should not cost much more.

I sure do not like the sound of connecting the pipe, then putting it in the ditch and burying it.  Talk to some other people.  Hope you have better luck than Jan on this list has had with her projects.

its ugly head, and the guy wants $450, that's making a connection at the
street and house, and no ditch! Just running the line on top of the
ground and we bury it.
