[DIY] crackly noises from iPod dock (Logitech Pure-Fi...)

 

I was given this iPod dock thing, and a little old iPod. I know
nuthink about these things. (Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2)

It sounds surprisingly good when everything's in the right place, but
any little movement makes part of the sound disappear, or it
crackles. Or I can't always get it *in the right place for all the
range of sound to come out. Would it maybe be something like a loose
solder connection inside the box, or maybe just dirty, or --- ? It
obviously was not taken care of; the adapter cord was tied in knots,
and in one place the cord was hanging together only by two of the
wire strands, and it had cuts all up and down the cord.
