I can think of two things,1 if your sub floor is less than 11/4 in thick the floor will flex and could make the grout keep coming out as well as tiles cracking and separating from the sub floor.2 if mastic was used to adhere the tiles to the sub floor instead if thin set, most mastics cannot be used over certain under laments such as luan plywood as the mastic will permeate the plys and determinate each layer causing "bubbles" within the under layment and when walked on the tile flexes and the grout will never stay.hope this helps jeff

Subject: [DIY] Floor tiles
A year ago, I put in ceramic floor tiles in my kitchen and bathroom. In 2 spots, the tiles sound like they grind and the grout keeps coming out. I put new tiles and grout in twice and it keeps happening. Is there a product that will not do this? The floor is level in both places also.
How can I fix this so it will not happen?
Thanks,
GB
