I would agree with Krazy, I would also suggest that you look at a piece of drill rod for the pole, it comes in 30 to 33 foot lengths, and is very strong.

I would advise against attaching a pole to the chimney. Chimneys are built to support their own weight. A strong wind, an anchor comes loose, and, you replace the chimney, instead of just the pole. BAD IDEA.
